CLABIO 2024 Submit Open Poster
5th Latin American Conference on Bioimpedance 2024 (Virtual)
Welcome to CLABIO 2024
The first Latin American Conference on Bioimpedance (CLABIO 2012) was held in the city of Joinville, organized by Prof. Dr. Pedro Bertemes Filho from UDESC Joinville, presenting new scientific-technological advances in Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy and Tomography. In 2015, the second edition of the event took place, organized by Prof. Franco Simini from the Universidad de la República in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay. The third edition of the conference was held in the city of Manizales (Colombia) in 2018, presided over by Prof. Dr. Carlos Augusto Gonzalez Correa from the University of Caldas. The latest edition of the conference was held in 2021 (November 10th to 13th) in the city of San Luis Potosí (Mexico) under the coordination of Prof. César Antonio González Díaz from the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico.
In this 2024 edition, the aim is to present research results and technological innovations for monitoring and clinical diagnostics, as well as the use in wearable devices for hospital or homecare use. The conference will bring together leading researchers, engineers, and scientists from many continents around the globe. Topics of interest for presentation include applications of electrical bioimpedance in the following research areas: i) Cells, Cell Culture, and Suspension; ii) Non-Linear Phenomena; iii) Plant Tissue Impedance; iv) Theory and Modeling; v) Clinical Applications; vi) Organ and Tissue Impedance; vii) Skin Impedance; viii) Electrode Modeling; ix) Bioimpedance Instrumentation; x) Bioimpedance Metrics; xi) Body and Tissue Composition; xii) Electrical Impedance Tomography; xiii) Magnetic-Electrical Induction Tomography; xiv) Magnetic-Electrical Resonance Tomography; xv) Technological Advances in Bioimpedance; xvi) Bioimpedance Applications in Other Areas: chemistry, veterinary medicine, food, etc. The innovative method of bioimpedance in disease diagnosis is not widely known in Brazil. It is a multidisciplinary area involving professionals from Engineering, Computing, Physics, Medicine, and Biology. There are about 4 research groups in Bioimpedance in Brazil, working directly with lung monitoring, tissue characterization, nutritional assessment, and bioimpedance metrics. Therefore, the event has high scientific and technological relevance and an innovative character.
In this edition, the proposal is to involve the CONFEA/CREA-SC system in scientific events with a focus on research and development, bringing professionals from the CONFEA/CREAs system closer to the state-of-the-art on the topic. To this end, the University of the State of Santa Catarina presents a sponsorship proposal to CREA-SC, as well as ABEE-SC to CONFEA, thus uniting the Professional System, the University, and the professional association.
